چکیده

In order to demonstrate our research results on managing wireless networks that are used to provide mobile services with a large spectrum of application, we developed the BlueSpot system. This system can be easily used to investigate various open questions concerning wireless networks. Here, we present results that became apparent during our investigations on Bluetooth Scatternets with the aid of the system. We demonstrate the differences of master-slave and slave-slave bridged networks and explain their di-

Bridging the ‘Two Cultures’ of Research and Service: Can Complexity Theory Help?; Comment on “Experience of Health Leadership in Partnering With University-Based Researchers in Canada – A Call to ‘Re-imagine’ Research”

This commentary addresses Bowen et al’s empirical study of perspectives of Canadian healthcare staff towards research and their call for multi-faceted action to improve misalignments in the system. This commentary argues that tensions and misalignments between research and service are inherent and can never be eradicated. Building on previous work by Lanham et al, I pro...

Cross-Layer-Based Adaptive Traffic Control Protocol for Bluetooth Wireless Networks

Bluetooth technology is particularly designed for a wireless personal area network that is low cost and less energy consuming. Efficient transmission between different Bluetooth nodes depends on network formation. An inefficient Bluetooth topology may create a bottleneck and a delay in the network when data is routed. To overcome the congestion problem of Bluetooth networks, a Cross-layer-based...

Arguments for Cross-Layer Optimizations in Bluetooth Scatternets

Bluetooth, a recent innovation in short-range radio technology, has gone through the first stage of standardization, and commercial products based on v1.0 specifications will be appearing soon. While much work has gone into developing the radio technology and hardware for this system, little effort has been focused on additional infrastructure that is necessary for applications in this environm...

A Simulation Environment for Bluetooth Equipped Mobile Robots

The Bluetooth radio system is an ideal communications tool for lightweight autonomous mobile robots but little research interest has been targeted at this application. We present in this paper an environment which allows behavior-based autonomous mobile robotic simulation to take advantage of synthetic Bluetooth communications. Two components comprise our system. A highly adaptable mobile robot...

On the effect of low-quality node observation on learning over incremental adaptive networks

In this paper, we study the impact of low-quality node on the performance of incremental least mean square (ILMS) adaptive networks. Adaptive networks involve many nodes with adaptation and learning capabilities. Low-quality mode in the performance of a node in a practical sensor network is modeled by the observation of pure noise (its observation noise) that leads to an unreliable measurement....
